Service Description

Tailoring for Beginners - Creating your own bespoke tailored jacket. Using the patterns from Vanessa Mooncie's The Gentleman's Wardrobe, this four day course, will teach you how to adapt a menswear pattern to your own measurements and then the techniques to construct and finish your own beautifully tailored jacket. The pattern can be adapted to ladieswear or menswear. This course is for beginners to tailoring but an intermediate level of sewing and knowledge of garment construction would be helpful. ------------------------------------------ The Tailored Wardrobe - Jacket The jacket is lined and features many classic details including a notched collar, two inside pockets and two side back vents. It involves just a small amount of hand sewing as the hems are stitched by machine. A copy of the book and all patterns are included in the cost, along with calico, all pattern making materials and a tweed wool fabric for you to make a toile, or even your jacket with. All you will need to bring is a notebook and your lunch. If you would like to make the garments in your own choice of fabric, please get in touch for advice on the best fabrics and quantities needed to complete the garment. Your tutor for this workshop is Peter Foster who has been a lecturer in textiles, fashion and costume design for over 20 years. This is a four day course, Thursday to Sunday, 10.00 - 4.00 on all days and runs from March 10th until March 13th.
