Our fashion making and pattern cutting short courses will give you the techniques and tools to create your own designs and turn them into a reality. Basic Pattern cutting workshop - evening Jacket block Have you ever wanted to design and make your own clothes? Maybe you get frustrated that you can never find the clothes you'd like to wear or that fit you properly. Would you like to learn how create the latest seasons statement details? In this beginners course you will learn the art of pattern making. You will practice how to use specialist equipment, learn pattern terminology and be shown how to draw, with accuracy and confidence, the correct information that should be on finished patterns. You will learn basic pattern cutting techniques to help you design and make your own clothes. On this course you could learn how to draft ladieswear or menswear patterns. You will learn basic pattern cutting techniques to help you design and make your own clothes. You will draft a foundation jacket block as a basis for making a pattern for your design. From this basic block, you will create a calico toile and be shown how this can be adapted to your own measurements. Using your adapted pattern, you will then be taught how to create fashion details on your jacket, such as collars, pockets, darts and many other details. You will have a pattern block and your own calico jacket pattern to take home with you. The course leader is Peter Foster who was Head of Fashion at West Cheshire College and has taught in many Further Education colleges and schools for over twenty years. What to bring with you: Notebook. A4 file and envelopes to create your own pattern cutting file, which you can use in the future. The pattern cutting for jacket workshop is held weekly, 10am - 3pm, over four days beginning on April 7th and continuing until April 28th.
